Job summary

Probus Recruitment is seeking an HR Advisor (Employee Relations) to support a major highways operation across Birmingham and the West Midlands. The role focuses on managing ER caseloads, conducting investigations and advising managers to ensure a compliant, fair workplace.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years in ER/HR advisory, strong UK employment law knowledge and CIPD Level 5 or working toward it. Travel between depots and a hybrid working arrangement are expected.

Qualifications

• Approximately three years of HR advisory or ER experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application.
• CIPD Level 5 qualification or current study toward it.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between depots.

Responsibilities

• Manage employee relations matters from referral to resolution, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, conduct, attendance and performance cases.
• Plan and conduct impartial workplace investigations with evidence gathering, interviews and written reports.
• Coach managers through difficult conversations and support return-to-work processes.
• Maintain confidential records, identify ER trends and contribute to policy development and HR improvement projects.
• Assist with training delivery and wider organisational development initiatives.
