Job summary

Broughton Group is seeking an HR Advisor to support managers and staff across the full employee lifecycle. You will provide practical HR guidance on employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and performance management, ensuring policies and data are compliant with employment law.

Reporting to the HR Director, the role blends advisory duties with hands-on HR administration, aiming to improve HR processes while fostering positive working relationships across two sites in the UK.

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 3 qualified, or equivalent practical HR experience.
  • Experience in a generalist HR role with exposure to employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience using HR systems and maintaining employee records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional HR advice and support to managers and employees across a wide range of people matters.
  • Coordinate recruitment activity from vacancy approval through to offer stage.
  • Manage onboarding and employee lifecycle administration, including contracts and records.
  • Support performance management, learning and development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate HR systems and data while ensuring legal compliance.
  • Assist with payroll changes and employee engagement activities.

HR Advisor

Location : Across both Broughton sites - BD23 1NA and BB18 6JZ


Salary : £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, DOE + Excellent Benefits!


Contract : Full time, Permanent


Hours : 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8-hour days with a 30-minute lunch break)

We are now looking to recruit an HR Advisor to support managers and employees across our business.


Reporting to the HR Director, this is a broad generalist role responsible for delivering professional HR support across the full employee lifecycle. You will provide advice, guidance and practical support across employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, employee engagement and HR administration.


The role combines HR advisory responsibilities with operational HR activities, ensuring people processes are delivered effectively, consistently and in line with employment legislation, company policies and business requirements.


It is well suited to someone who enjoys building strong working relationships, is organised and proactive in their approach and is confident supporting managers across a wide range of people matters.


As our HR Advisor you will:


  • Provide professional HR advice and support to managers and employees across a wide range of people matters

  • Support employee relations activities, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance management cases

  • Coordinate recruitment activity from vacancy approval through to offer stage, supporting managers and candidates throughout the process

  • Manage onboarding and employee lifecycle administration, including contracts, new starter documentation and employee records

  • Support performance management, learning and development activities across the business

  • Maintain accurate HR systems, records and management information, ensuring compliance with data protection and employment legislation

  • Support payroll administration by ensuring employee changes are communicated accurately and on time

  • Assist with employee engagement, wellbeing initiatives and company events

  • Support the review and maintenance of HR policies, procedures and compliance requirements

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across HR processes and systems


In order to be successful in this role you must have / be:


  • CIPD Level 3 qualified, or possess equivalent practical HR experience

  • Previous experience within a generalist HR role

  • Experience supporting employee relations matters

  • Good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice

  • Experience using HR systems and maintaining employee records

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Professional, approachable and credible

  • High level of confidentiality and integrity

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Proactive and solution focused

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively

  • Positive, flexible and adaptable approach


It would be great if you had:


  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or be working towards it

  • Experience working within a multi-site environment

  • Experience supporting recruitment and learning and development activities

  • Experience producing HR reports and people metrics
