HR Advisor
Location: Newport, Isle of Wight
Contract: 3 months initially
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: £30 per hour (Umbrella) - (£23 PAYE an hour)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the
Human Resources team at Isle of Wight Council, supporting the delivery of a proactive and high-quality HR Advisory Service across schools on the Island.
We’re looking for an experienced
HR Advisor who is proactive, solution-focused, and ready to make an impact from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and guide Headteachers, School Business Managers, and Senior Leaders on a wide range of HR issues.
- Manage a caseload of formal employee relations matters, including disciplinary, capability, sickness absence, and grievance cases.
- Professionally support and lead on casework from initial advice to resolution.
- Design and deliver training sessions related to HR policy and best practice.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, guidance notes, and intranet resources to ensure accessibility and relevance.
- Assist managers and staff in interpreting and applying HR policies, ensuring consistent and fair practice across schools.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in a HR advisory or generalist role, ideally in the education or public sector.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of employment law and HR best practice.
- Ability to manage sensitive and complex cases with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- CIPD Level 7 qualification is essential.
