Job summary

Markel International is seeking a Workplace Operations Manager to lead HQ operations at 20 Fenchurch Street, London, overseeing occupancy, service delivery and workplace experience.

You will manage a high-performing team, partner with stakeholders and suppliers, and drive continuous improvement in a hybrid, high-profile environment. This onsite role requires strong leadership, financial stewardship and the ability to balance exceptional service with risk management.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading workplace, facilities or corporate real estate operations within a complex corporate environment.
• Strong background in building high-performing teams and delivering high service standards.
• Commercial experience across budgets, contracts, procurement and supplier management.
• Proven ability to manage multiple service partners and hold them accountable for performance.
• Experience delivering workplace projects and organisational change initiatives.
• Credible stakeholder management to influence senior leaders.
• Excellent judgment, resilience and decision-making in fast-paced contexts.
• Strategic thinking combined with operational awareness and attention to detail.
• Passion for service excellence and continuous improvement.
• Willingness to challenge existing approaches to improve effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Lead workplace operations across the International HQ, ensuring standards, service delivery and employee experience.
• Develop and lead a high-performing team responsible for reception, visitor management, meeting room management, and events.
• Shape ongoing development of workplace services to align with business growth and hybrid working models.
• Own occupancy planning, space utilisation and workplace strategy to support organisational objectives.
• Advise business leaders on workplace matters with practical solutions and recommendations.
• Lead projects from planning through delivery, including moves and refurbishments, with minimal business disruption.
• Oversee key workplace suppliers and service partners across hard and soft services, ensuring value for money.
• Manage workplace budgets and commercial decisions with focus on service excellence and fiscal discipline.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance quality, efficiency and consistency.
• Ensure a safe, secure, resilient and compliant workplace environment.
