Job summary

Markel is seeking a Workplace Operations Manager for its International HQ in London. You will lead occupancy management, workplace operations and service delivery while partnering with senior stakeholders, landlords and service providers to create a high-quality, hybrid-friendly workplace.

You’ll be the senior operational lead, shaping space utilisation, governance and continuous improvements to support business objectives and an exceptional employee experience.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading workplace, facilities or corporate real estate operations in a complex corporate environment.
• Strong background in building and leading teams to deliver high service standards.
• Commercial experience across budgets, contracts, procurement and supplier management.
• Proven ability to manage multiple service partners and ensure performance accountability.
• Experience delivering workplace projects, operational improvements and organizational change initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management with credibility to influence senior leaders.
• Excellent judgment, resilience and fast-paced decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead workplace operations across International HQ, Lloyd's office allocation and service delivery.
• Develop a high-performing workplace team for reception, visitor management, meeting room coordination and events.
• Shape development of workplace services aligned with business needs and hybrid work.
• Own occupancy planning, space utilisation and workplace strategy.
• Advise senior leaders with practical solutions and insights on workplace matters.
• Lead projects from planning through delivery, including moves and refurbishments.
• Manage key suppliers across hard and soft services to ensure value for money.
• Own budgets and commercial decisions balancing service excellence with cost controls.
• Drive continuous improvement using data to enhance performance and decision-making.
• Ensure a positive workplace environment for employees, clients and visitors.
• Establish governance, standards and operating frameworks for reliable delivery.
• Lead governance, compliance, health & safety, risk and resilience in the workplace.
• Build partnerships with senior stakeholders to support priorities and strategic initiatives.
• Promote innovation and sustainability in workplace operations.
• Provide reporting and insights to senior leadership on performance, risks and opportunities.
• Ensure resources and operating models stay fit for evolving business needs.
• Foster a culture of accountability and service excellence across the function.
