Job summary

UKRI International is seeking a technically skilled IT professional to maintain and develop the Institute's Scientific Computing facilities, including a large HPC cluster, storage systems and Linux workstations. The role focuses on supporting neurobiology-related data analyses, deep learning workloads, and petabyte-scale brain datasets.

You will work with a distributed team to plan, install, commission and maintain compute and storage resources, advise users, and help implement disaster recovery

Qualifications

  • Essential: Degree in Computing, Science or equivalent subject.
  • Desirable: MSc/MA/PhD or other computing qualifications.
  • Experience of server administration and/or system development.
  • Experience of supporting Linux and Unix systems.
  • Experience of training large language models with large datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot the Institute’s Scientific Computing services and HPC cluster.
  • Lead and manage discrete infrastructure services/projects.
  • Develop and maintain hardware/software solutions for deep learning workloads.
  • Maintain High Performance Computing cluster and petabyte-scale storage systems.
  • Create and maintain documentation of configurations and operations.
  • Provide technical support to users and assist with training.
