What You'll Do

  • Support Quantitative End-Users: Triage and resolve Altair Grid Engine job scheduling, queue management, and Linux environment issues (Spack, Python, R, permissions).

  • Drive Modernization & Migrations: Help lead a CentOS 7 to RHEL 9 migration across 400+ developer tools and support VM migration to Nutanix.

  • Hardware & GPU Upgrades: Assist with rolling out next-gen compute (NVIDIA B200 / RTX Pro) at UK data centre sites.

  • Operational Excellence: Maintain runbooks, manage patch cycles/CVEs, and establish robust change-control hygiene.

What You Bring

  • 8+ Years in Linux Systems: Deep expertise in RHEL, CentOS, or Rocky Linux environments.

  • HPC Expertise: Solid understanding of cluster job schedulers (Altair Grid Engine / SGE preferred), parallel filesystems (GPFS/Spectrum Scale), and GPU workloads.

  • Scripting & Automation: Strong Bash capabilities (Python and Ansible are a major plus).

  • Migration Experience: Familiarity with migrating HPC toolchains, Spack module builds, or OS upgrades.

  • UK-Based: Flexible remote setup, but must be available for occasional visits to London (Telehouse) data centres.
