Job summary

Emerging Futures CIC is seeking a Housing Support Worker in Hertfordshire. You will support people with histories of drug and/or alcohol issues to sustain housing and progress towards independent living, within supported housing projects.

You will work with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver interventions that aid recovery, while ensuring safety and wellbeing, and supporting residents to engage in meaningful activities in the community.

Qualifications

• Experience or understanding of supporting people to develop their personal strengths and sustain tenancy within a ‘supported housing’ environment.
• Specialist harm reduction experience.
• Experience of developing partnerships and working collaboratively with other organisations.
• A coaching/ counselling/ Health and Social Care qualification.
• An understanding of the harmful effects associated with drug and alcohol misuse and offending in relation to health, social welfare, housing, employability and personal relationships.

Responsibilities

• Support residents to recover and achieve independent living in the community.
• Collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies to provide interventions to support recovery and help people achieve independent living.
• Provide psychological therapies to support residents’ wellbeing.
• Ensure residents are safe and engaged in positive and meaningful activities in the community.
• Focussing on health and safety, risk management, housing compliance, and maintaining safe, clean, and well-managed homes for residents.
• Travel to different sites around Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield; occasional travel to Watford.
• Be willing to work some evenings and weekends.
