Job summary

Middlesbrough Council is seeking a Housing Solutions Private Rented Sector Officer in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, to support applicants affected by the Renters Rights Act 2025 and improve outcomes for residents. The role is a two-year fixed term, full-time position with flexible/blended working where appropriate.

You will collaborate with Environmental Health, assess homelessness, liaise with landlords, and ensure accurate information is recorded.

Responsibilities

• Work in close partnership with Environmental Health and Public Protection regarding the Renters Rights Act.
• Carry out homelessness assessments under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and aim to prevent homelessness.
• Be creative and innovative in supporting people at risk of homelessness.
• Liaise with landlords to make enquiries around evictions.
• Work with the Housing Solutions team to prevent and relieve homelessness.
• Record information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Effectively communicate with colleagues, applicants and stakeholders.
• Help promote the changes made by new legislation to colleagues and stakeholders and in neighbourhoods.
