Job summary

Redditch Borough Council invites applications for a Housing Manager within the Housing Solutions team. You will lead strategic and operational activities, oversee the end-to-end void process, and collaborate across services to deliver high-performance outcomes.

The role focuses on homelessness prevention, housing register management, temporary accommodation, and ensuring nominations and processes comply with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Min Level 4 qualification related to housing management and CIH membership.
  • At least 2 years' relevant and recent experience in a housing managerial role.
  • Experience operating choice-based letting systems and a housing register in a local authority.
  • Experience managing void processes and improving performance across services.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Housing Solutions Manager in delivering vision and initiatives.
  • Provide end-to-end oversight of the void process for the Housing Service.
  • Enable customer services focused on homelessness prevention through the Housing Register and Temporary Accommodation.
  • Support officers, systems and processes to deliver a seamless Housing Solutions service.

Job description

Situated in North Worcestershire, Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council share services. The role
  • Support the strategic and operational managers in delivering the vision, strategies and initiatives for the Housing Solutions team and the wider housing service, of which you are an integral part.
  • For all voids, provide managerial oversight and control of the end-to-end void process for the Housing Service, including closecollaboration with all other relevant service areas that develops and delivers consistent high performance.
  • Provide enablingsupportive customer services that are firmly focused on the prevention and / or relief of homelessness through the Housing Register and provision of Temporary Accommodation
  • Ensure that the Housing Solutions teamsupport all officers, systems, and processes in operating the Homelessness, and Housing Solutions team, in delivering a seamless service.
Key Requirements
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with the Homelessness Manager, and wider service managers, to ensure your teams deliver a seamless technical and customer service under the legislative and regulatory framework for housing and homelessness.
  • Through systems and policies, provide open and positive direct line management and good leadership to the Registrations and Allocations TeamLeader and Temporary Accommodation TeamLeader, and indirectly to the Housing Solutions Team.
  • Ensure that the Local Authorities nomination agreements and processes are regularly updated, monitored and managed, to maximize stock available to the Council for allocation.
  • From the register, ensure proactive identification of those homeless, threatened with homelessness, living in exceptional circumstances, or with health and welfare needs, that need to be prioritized and referred for casework anddecision making, professionallysupporting any formaldecision-making processes as necessary.
Skills & experience
  • Min Level 4 qualification related to housing management and social housing practices and to maintain annual CIH membership.
  • At least 2 year relevant and recent experience in a housing managerial role.
  • Experience of operating choice based letting systems and a general housing register and nominations in a local authority setting
  • Be experienced in void process management and know how to improve performance across multiple service areas
