Join Our Team as a Service Manager - Housing
Location:
Wells, Somerset

Role: Part-time, 28 hours per week, between Monday-Friday, 9am–5pm.

Full-time equivalent salary - £37,406 per annum (Pro-rated for part-time hours)

As Service Manager, I lead teams across Keward House, Burcott Road and Mendip Outreach Service, delivering safe, high-quality and person-centred housing support for adults with mental health needs.

Keward House provides 19 rooms across four shared suites, Burcott Road offers 6 self-contained flats, and Mendip Outreach supports people living independently in the community. The services help individuals sustain accommodation, develop independent living skills and move towards greater independence, with support available for up to two years.

How you will make a difference as a Service Manager:

You will be responsible for the overall management of the services, including staff leadership, safeguarding, compliance, quality assurance, health and safety, risk management and service improvement. Working closely with commissioners, local authorities and partner agencies, you will ensure positive outcomes are achieved and that people receive the support they need to maintain their wellbeing, sustain tenancies and successfully move on to independent living.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of supported housing and outreach services, ensuring high-quality, person-centred support.
  • Manage referrals, assessments, admissions, and move-on processes for service users.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with commissioners, housing providers, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Oversee tenancy management, rent collection, housing benefit processes, and void property management.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, data protection, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, support, and develop staff through supervision, coaching, performance management, and recruitment.
  • Monitor service performance, contract delivery, and outcomes, providing reports and implementing improvements where required.
  • Manage resources, budgets, staffing rotas, and financial processes in line with organisational policies.
  • Promote service user involvement, community engagement, and positive recovery outcomes.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and support the wider operational management of the service.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience of providing support to people with a mental illness; or experience of providing care and/or support services within another social care setting in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and embedding the ethos of recovery into your own practice.
  • The ability to make a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s situation and needs; to develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans to meet these needs.
  • QCF Diploma or NVQ level 3 in Care or Certificate in Community Mental Healthcare (or working towards) or an equivalent qualification.

If you’re passionate about empowering individuals, reducing stigma, and improving mental health outcomes, we’d love to hear from you!
