Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking a Housing Options Team Leader in Braintree for a full-time, temporary assignment. The role focuses on leading and developing a team delivering homelessness prevention and housing advice services.

You will oversee complex cases, ensure compliance with housing legislation, monitor performance and deliver timely, quality outcomes while supporting service improvements and partnership work.

Qualifications

• Lead, supervise and support Housing Options Officers, Triage Officers and other team members to deliver an effective homelessness prevention and housing advice service.
• Ensure statutory responsibilities under housing legislation including key Acts are met by the Client.
• Oversee complex, high-risk and sensitive homelessness cases, providing guidance on progression and decisions.
• Monitor the quality and consistency of homelessness assessments, investigations and statutory decisions.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular quality assurance checks and case audits to ensure legal compliance and high service standards.
• Manage individual and team performance, setting objectives and monitoring workloads.
• Ensure homelessness prevention, relief and accommodation duties are delivered effectively and within statutory timescales.
• Support policy development and service improvements in the Housing Options team.
• Build partnerships with housing providers, support agencies and other statutory services.

Housing Options Team Leader needed in Braintree Paying £40 per hr ref 24435

Full time hours on a temporarybasis

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support Housing Options Officers, Triage Officers and other team members to deliver an effective homelessness prevention and housing advice service.
• Ensure the Client meets its statutory responsibilities under homelessness and housing legislation, including the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Act 2002, Localism Act 2011 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Oversee complex, high-risk and sensitive homelessness cases, providing guidance and support to officers on case progression and decision-making.
• Monitor the quality and consistency of homelessness assessments, investigations and statutory decisions.
• Carry out regular quality assurance checks and case audits to ensure legal compliance and high service standards.
• Manage individual and team performance, setting objectives, monitoring workloads and addressing performance issues where required.
• Ensure homelessness prevention, relief and accommodation duties are delivered effectively and within statutory timescales.
• Support the Housing Options Manager in developing policies, procedures and service improvements.
• Build and maintain effective partnerships with housing providers, support agencies, voluntary organisations and other statutory services.
• Monitor service performance against key performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide accurate management information and performance reports as required.
• Represent the service at internal meetings, multi-agency forums and partnership meetings.
• Deputise for the Housing Options Manager during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of service delivery.
