Job summary

Warwick District Council is recruiting Housing Options Officer to prevent homelessness and support customers in securing or sustaining accommodation. You will assess circumstances, provide advice, and develop personalised housing plans while collaborating with partner agencies.

37 hour

3 x Permanent positions.

Salary: £35,570 to £38,510 per annum, plus a Market Forces Supplement of £2,500 per annum (which is subject to review).

We're looking for motivated, resilient and customer-focused individuals to join our Housing Options Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of homelessness prevention, supporting people through some of the most challenging times in their lives.

At Warwick District Council, we are committed to preventing homelessness wherever possible and improving outcomes for our residents. This is an exciting time to join the service as we continue to develop innovative approaches to supporting customers, strengthen our prevention work and work collaboratively with partner agencies to tackle homelessness across the district.

As a Housing Options Officer, you will be the first point of contact for customers who are facing homelessness or housing difficulties. You'll assess individual circumstances, provide advice and support, and work with customers to identify solutions that help them secure or sustain accommodation.

This is a busy and varied role that requires excellent organisation, sound decision-making skills and the ability to manage a diverse caseload. You'll be working with customers from a range of backgrounds, many of whom may have complex needs, so empathy, resilience and strong communication skills are essential.

You will be responsible for assessing applications, making decisions in line with homelessness legislation, developing personalised housing plans and working closely with a range of partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for our customers.

Alongside managing a varied caseload, you will have the opportunity to develop additional knowledge and expertise in a particular area, helping to support the wider team and shape service delivery. These areas include:

The intention is for the postholder to work predominately from home however, it is a requirement to attend our offices or sites within Warwick District as required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate. However, hybrid and office working is also available.

There will be a two-stage recruitment process for this role. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the first stage of the process. Stage 1 – Written Test and Role Play

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend either a morning or afternoon assessment session on 15th October 2026. The session will include a written assessment and role play exercise. Candidates should ensure they are available for up to three hours.

Stage 2 – Interview Candidates who are successful at Stage 1 will be invited to attend a formal interview. Candidates will be notified of the outcome of Stage 1 on 16th October 2026, with interviews scheduled to take place on 20th October 2026
