Job summary

About the Team

The Housing Strategy and Enabling Team leads on housing policy, housing needs research, affordable housing delivery, partnership working and strategic housing projects. The team works closely with Planning Services, Registered Providers, Homes England, developers, neighbouring authorities and other key stakeholders to maximise housing opportunities and improve housing outcomes for local residents.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated housing professional to join our Housing Strategy and Development Team.

This is a varied and rewarding role, combining housing strategy, policy development, affordable housing delivery and partnership working. You will lead on the preparation and review of housing strategies, policies and research, whilst also supporting the delivery of affordable housing through negotiations with developers, Registered Providers and other partners.

You will have the opportunity to influence local housing policy, contribute to major development proposals and help shape the future delivery of affordable housing within Warwick District.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading on the development, implementation and monitoring of housing strategies, policies and action plans.

What We're Looking For

• A professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or an equivalent professional body.
• Experience of housing strategy, policy development or affordable housing delivery.
• Knowledge of current housing, planning and regeneration policy.
• Experience of working with Registered Providers, developers or local authorities.
• Strong negotiation, influencing and partnership-working skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
• The ability to analyse complex information, undertake research and develop practical solutions.
• A proactive, organised and positive approach, with the ability to manage a varied workload and work independently.

Working Arrangements

This is a hybrid role, with the majority of work undertaken remotely. The successful candidate will be expected to attend Council offices, meetings and sites across Warwick District as required to meet business needs.

Contract and Hours

Permanent contract Full-time position 37 hours per week
