Housing Needs Officer
  • Hourly Rate: £18.24
  • Location: Warrington (Hybrid working - 2 days in the office, 3 days from home)
  • Job Type: Full-time, Interim

Join our team as a Housing Needs Officer, where you will play a crucial role in assessing statutory homelessness applications, delivering proactive prevention and relief services, and managing emergency and temporary accommodation. This position is ideal for someone with strong case management skills, legal knowledge, and the ability to negotiate sustainable housing solutions.

Day‑to‑day of the role
  • Assess homelessness applications in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
  • Create and maintain Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs), ensuring regular contact with clients and updates to plans.
  • Deliver a proactive homelessness prevention service, including negotiation with landlords, family, and friends.
  • Arrange emergency and temporary accommodation, ensuring minimal use and cost-effectiveness.
  • Make referrals to supported housing and other accommodation providers.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of homelessness and related legislation.
  • Use IT systems to maintain accurate customer and management information.
  • Meet individual and service performance targets.
Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload.
