Job summary

Oasis Community Housing is seeking a Housing First Worker in Gateshead to coordinate and deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support. The goal is to create long-term sustainable tenancies by empowering customers, increasing independence and strengthening links with the local community.

The role follows Housing First principles including home as a right, flexible support, client choice, and strengths-based planning.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience as a support worker (Essential)
• Good understanding of housing first principles (Essential)
• Experience of using person centred support plans (Essential)
• An awareness of the impact of worklessness on homeless people (Desirable)
• Knowledge of drug and alcohol misuse (Essential)
• Knowledge of mental health issues (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• The Housing First Worker will coordinate and provide a personalised, trauma-informed support service to create long-term sustainable tenancies.
• Work to housing first principles including client choice and a strength-based approach.
• Coordinate services to increase independence and community connectivity for customers.
