Job summary

Wychavon District Council is seeking a Crisis Prevention Officer to join the Housing Services team in Pershore. The role involves delivering financial and housing advice, preventing homelessness, and working with households to overcome financial crises.

You will liaise with Housing Options, Private Sector Housing Teams, and landlords to safeguard tenancies, while applying persuasive and communication skills to support residents and partners.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar role delivering financial support.
• Hold a relevant housing or welfare qualification.
• Ability to problem solve while managing a complex caseload focusing on homelessness or financial crisis.
• Ability to maximise household incomes and reduce poverty.
• Knowledge of the welfare benefits system, including Universal Credit.
• Experience supporting residents facing financial hardship (e.g. mortgage repossession, eviction).
• Design eligibility for a hardship fund via Crisis and Resilience Funding.
• Deliver financial capability training and money management through sessions and courses.
• Report outcomes quarterly and provide case studies to Senior Managers.
