West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a Benefits Assessment Officer to join the Revenues & Benefits team in Northampton. You will assess Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims, interpret legislation, verify information, and ensure timely, accurate decisions, while supporting vulnerable customers and maintaining high service standards.

Formación

• Experience in Housing Benefit or welfare benefits desirable.
• Ability to interpret legislation and support customers.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a public sector environment.

Responsabilidades

• Assess new Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims.
• Review changes in circumstances and make entitlement decisions.
• Gather and verify information, calculate entitlement, and process claims.
• Interpret complex legislation and keep up to date with changes.
• Assist customers via phone, email, correspondence and face-to-face.
• Identify and manage overpayments and support vulnerable customers.
• Contribute to fraud prevention activities where appropriate.
• Manage own workload and work toward service targets with accuracy.
