Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Allocations & Lettings Officer to join a busy Local Authority housing team in East London. The role focuses on allocating permanent and temporary accommodation in line with Housing Act requirements and the Council's Allocations Scheme.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing allocations and homelessness legislation is preferred.
• Excellent communication, decision-making and case management skills.
• Ability to work within local authority or social housing environments.

Responsibilities

• Allocate permanent and temporary accommodation in line with Housing Act 1996 and the Council's Allocations Scheme.
• Manage allocations through the choice-based lettings system and perform direct matching for specific needs.
• Verify shortlisted applications, complete affordability and suitability assessments, and provide housing advice.
• Support letting of temporary accommodation, prevention and private rented sector properties, including sign-ups and tenancy advice.
• Make decisions regarding refusals of suitable interim accommodation under Section 188 and discharge homelessness duties where appropriate.
