Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Housing Allocations Team Leader to provide operational leadership and day-to-day management of the council's housing allocations service. You will oversee the housing register and the allocation of homes in line with legislation, regulatory requirements and the Allocations Policy.

The role requires strong leadership, resilience and customer-focused service delivery. You will drive improvements, ensure fair assessments, and collaborate with the North Yorkshire

Qualifications

• Experience of housing allocations, housing management or homelessness services within a social housing or local authority environment.
• Experience of leading, motivating and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of housing allocations legislation, statutory guidance and the social housing regulatory framework.
• Experience of interpreting and applying housing policies, procedures and legislation to make sound decisions.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
• A customer-focused approach, with the ability to handle complex and sensitive cases effectively.
• Experience of managing resources, driving service improvement and applying effective people, risk and budget management principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership and day-to-day management of the Council's housing allocations service.
• Lead a team administering the housing register and allocating homes in line with legislation and policy.
• Drive service improvements and help shape the future direction of housing allocations across the county.
• Support the North Yorkshire Home Choice partnership with registered providers and housing partners.
• Ensure applications are assessed consistently and fairly.
