Job summary

Alexander House Care Home in Exeter, part of Care Concern Group, is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment and to support laundry services.

You will clean residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, assist with laundry including washing, drying and ironing, and follow infection control procedures to ensure high hygiene standards and resident comfort. This role requires working alternate weekends on a 40-hour contract with pay of £12.71 per hour.

Qualifications

• Good general hygiene and infection control awareness.
• Ability to work to high cleanliness and presentation standards.
• Comfort working in a care environment with residents.
• Willingness to follow procedures and safety guidelines.
• Reliability and punctuality are essential.
• No prior experience required but welcomed.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our newly built care home is based in the charming suburb of Pinhoe, Exeter. We offer exceptional standards of Nursing, Residential, Dementia and Respite care for 67 residents.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• £12.71 per hour
• Contracted to 40 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.

You will be responsible for cleaning residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.

Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
