Job summary

Douglas Court Care Home in Derby is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment and support laundry services. You will clean residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to a high standard and help with laundry tasks, ensuring items are labelled and cared for.

Work will include following infection control and health and safety procedures, contributing to comfort and daily wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing to residents, with items clearly labelled.
• Follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures.
• Contribute to a well-organised and comfortable environment for residents.
• Alternate weekends work requirement.

Douglas Court Care Home is a modern residential, dementia and respite care home in Derby. With beautiful sensory gardens, comfortable living spaces and engaging daily activities, our team is dedicated to helping every resident feel safe, valued and at home.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• £12.85 per hour
• Contracted to 40 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.

You will be responsible for cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.

Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
