Job summary

The Old Vicarage Care Home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant on a zero-hour contract. You will maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment and assist with laundry services, contributing to residents’ comfort and daily wellbeing.

Role requires attention to detail, reliability and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience is welcome but not essential.

• Contribute to a well organised, comfortable environment where residents feel respected and supported

The Old Vicarage Care Home is a modern residential, dementia, respite and day care home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield. Surrounded by beautiful mature gardens and excellent facilities, our caring team provides personalised support that helps residents maintain independence, comfort and wellbeing.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• £12.85 per hour
• Contracted to 0 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.

You will be responsible for cleaning residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.

Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.
