Job summary

St James’ Park Care Home is a Dorset care facility providing residential and nursing care. We are seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment and to support laundry services.

You will follow infection control and safety procedures, ensure rooms and communal areas are well-presented, and support Residents with daily wellbeing and comfort.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and reliability.
• Strong attention to detail and organisation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of hygiene and infection control is beneficial.
• Previous housekeeping experience is welcomed but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to high hygiene standards.
• Support laundry duties including washing, drying and ironing.
• Follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures.
• Contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment for Residents.

St James’ Park Care Home is a 31 bed care home located in the charming village of Bradpole, near Bridport in Dorset. Providing residential and nursing care, the home offers a warm and welcoming environment where colleagues work together to deliver high quality, person centred care and make a real difference to the lives of Residents every day.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• £13.45 to £13.95 per hour
• Contracted to 35 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.
You will be responsible for cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.
Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.
