Greycoat Lumleys is seeking an experienced Housekeeper for a rural estate near Bromyard, Herefordshire. The maternity cover is for 12 months, starting 1st November 2026, with hours Monday to Friday 8:00 to 15:20 and some weekend work when the family is in residence.
You will clean and prepare the main house, manage the barn conversion and classroom, run errands, handle laundry, and liaise with trades. A driver with own car and Enhanced DBS check are essential; a 2-bed cottage may be provided
Housekeeper Job - Nr Bromyard, Herefordshire – 35 hours per week - £20 per hour
Our client is looking for an experienced Housekeeper to look after a small rural estate near Bromyard, Herefordshire. The role is offered for a 12-month period for Maternity Cover to start 1st November 2026.
The estate is on the Herefordshire / Worcestershire border and about 20 mins from both Herefordand Worcester. There are both domestic and commercial properties on the estate (farmhouse, cottage, barn conversion and additional classroom building) and the main house is a part-time residence to a family with school aged children, with the other properties on the estate being used for business purposes all year around. The family visit sporadically totaling perhaps 2 months per year with them normally staying for a week at a time. The barn conversion is home to an office space, dining room and four bedrooms which are used by the family business and also to run residential training courses.
This role will be varied. You will need to look after the main family home, keeping it clean and tidy and preparing it for use when the family visit. You will also be required to clean and be responsible for the barn conversion building and classroom, cleaning the office space, cleaning the bedrooms when they have been used during the courses and also clearing the dining room area when it’s been used.
Duties will include:
Hands on cleaning of the properties on the estate
Preparing the main house for family visits and looking after the family when they are in residence
Personal laundry - bedding is sent out
Running errands
Monitoring and reporting any maintenance issues
Dealing with trades and contractors
Shopping and provisioning, both shopping locally and online
Basic cooking would be a bonus
Driver with own car is essential
Excellent references and Enhanced DBS check required
Hours will Monday to Friday 8.00 to 3.20 with a 20 min unpaid break – some weekend work required when the family are in residence (overtime agreed in advance)
A 2 bed cottage could be provided in site (rent and utilities covered by the employer) for the 12 month period but it is not essential that you live on-site.
£20 per hour + paid annual leave
