Job summary

SSJ Properties in Hampshire is seeking a Housekeeper to join our team. The role involves maintaining a high standard of cleaning across residential and commercial properties, while adhering to Health & Safety and COSHH requirements.

You will also be required to travel between properties to distribute supplies and support our housing services. The ideal candidate is reliable, organised, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team, with empathy for residents experiencing

Qualifications

  • Experience cleaning to a high standard in residential or commercial settings
  • COSHH knowledge or willingness to train
  • Good time management and ability to prioritise workload
  • Physical capability to lift/move materials and climb stairs
  • Good communication skills and basic computer literacy
  • Empathetic and respectful attitude toward individuals with complex needs
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for travel between properties

Housekeeper
SSJ Properties
Hampshire
20 Hours per week, Monday - Friday
Salary Point 20: £14,025 per annum (£25,947 per annum FTE)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Charity and Housing Association.The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 50 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. The Impact You'll Make

To work at a number of residential and commercial properties for the Society of St James (SSJ), in order to provide and maintain a quality housekeeping service. You will be responsible for upholding Health & Safety and COSHH standards for cleaning, ensuring communal areas, kitchens, bathrooms, commercial offices, and vacant residential rooms/flats are cleaned to a high standard, alongside driving between properties to distribute supplies.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a reliable, self-motivated, and organised individual with good time management skills. You should be able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team, with the physical capacity to carry out cleaning duties across multi-floor properties. An empathetic and non-judgmental approach towards individuals with histories of homelessness, mental health problems, and substance misuse is essential.

Essential Skills and Qualities
  • Experience of cleaning to a high standard, including regular tasks and periodic deep cleans in residential and commercial settings
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and COSHH safety requirements (or willingness to complete training)
  • Good time management skills and ability to organise and prioritise your workload effectively
  • Physical capability to lift materials/equipment and climb stairs across multi-floor properties
  • Good communication skills and basic computer literacy (Word, Email, Internet)
  • Empathetic and respectful attitude towards individuals with complex needs
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for business travel between properties or alternative accessible arrangement
  • Knowledge of lone working procedures, health & safety, and awareness of safeguarding protocols
