Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Housekeeper to join the Healthcare team at Colchester Hospital. In this role, you’ll deliver high cleaning standards across wards and clinical areas, support meal services, and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patients and staff.

The position is 15 hours per week, Monday and Tuesday 07:00–15:30, paying £12.92 per hour. Benefits include Sodexo perks, pension, uniform, and retail discounts. NHS experience desirable but not essential.

• NHS or healthcare sector experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high standards of cleaning and housekeeping across wards, clinical areas, offices, meeting rooms, and communal spaces.
• Support patient meal and beverage services in line with Food Hygiene Regulations and healthcare standards.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including the correct use of PPE and cleaning equipment.
• Replenish essential supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls throughout the hospital.
• Collect and manage waste safely in accordance with healthcare waste management procedures.
• Assist with stock control and ensure cleaning cupboards remain organised and fully stocked.
• Report maintenance issues, faults, and health and safety concerns promptly.
• Demonstrate compassion and professionalism when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the hospital environment through teamwork, flexibility, and excellent service delivery.
