Job summary

John Lewis invites applications for a Hotels Porter to join our hotel team, delivering cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across guest-facing and back-of-house areas, and ensuring a first-rate guest experience during the night.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and flexible hours worth 37.5 hours across seven days. You will clean rooms, manage laundry runs, assist with room set ups and support maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Clean guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
• Provide outstanding customer experience as a brand ambassador.
• Resolve customer queries or complaints at the first point of contact.
• Clean and maintain all areas across the Estate.
• Carry out laundry runs across the Estate; a driver’s licence is essential.
• Coordinate with Events Coordinator to plan and deliver room set ups.
• Prepare the Conference Centre for following day's trade.
• Occasionally take the Night Porter role in the absence of the Night Porter.
• Support the Maintenance team to keep areas clean and well presented.

About the role

As a Hotels Porter, you will work as part of the Hotel team to deliver and maintain the required standard of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across all areas of the Hotel both guest-facing and back of house.

Deliver a first-rate customer experience, leading customer service and provision of a secure and safe environment for guests, members and staff during the night. To add value to the efficient and profitable running of the Hotel in order to achieve our business and personal objectives, along with those of your team and the Hotel.

Due to the nature of this role, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Flexibility to work in the housekeeping team, cleaning guest rooms, public and private areas and Airbnb's.
• To be a brand ambassador by being a warm and friendly Partner who provides a consistently outstanding customer experience that is unrivalled in the marketplace.
• To resolve customer queries or complaints at the first point of contact.
• Cleaning and maintaining all areas across the Estate
• Laundry runs across the Estate - A driver's licence is essential for this role .
• Work with Events Coordinator's to plan and deliver room set ups.
• Setting up of the Conference Centre for following days trade.
• Take on the Night Porter role, hours and duties in the absence of the Night Porter.
• Supporting the Maintenance team to maintain external and internal cleanliness throughout.

Essential skills/experience you'll need

The role can be both physically and mentally demanding and requires an appropriate level of fitness and practical dexterity.

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• Knowledge or experience of working in a hotel environment
• First aid trained

Varied hours of full time work (37.5 hours a week) across seven days to include early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends between the hours of 07:00 - 21:00.
