Job summary

Portsmouth Marriott Hotel is seeking an experienced HR Manager who places people at the heart of the business to lead all aspects of the employee lifecycle. You will partner with hotel leadership to drive a positive culture, manage recruitment, learning, engagement and compliance, and develop teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

  • Experienced HR professional with strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Confident advisor with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing employee relations cases independently.
  • Proactive and organised approach with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver the hotel's HR strategy in line with business objectives and company standards.
  • Act as the primary HR advisor to managers on employee relations, performance and people matters.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding and talent acquisition across all departments.
  • Drive associate engagement, wellbeing and recognition initiatives.
  • Lead learning, development and succession planning programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies and HR best practice.
  • Oversee HR systems, reporting, payroll administration and people metrics.
  • Coach and develop managers to build engaged and high‑performing teams.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture where associates can thrive.

JOB SUMMARY

The Portsmouth Marriott Hotel is looking for an experienced and people-focused Human Resources Manager! This is an exciting opportunity to lead all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, engagement, and HR compliance. Working closely with managers across the hotel, you will drive a positive workplace culture, support business objectives, and help develop talented teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

We are looking for a passionate HR Manager wanting to deliver a first-class employee experience at the world leading hospitality company PortsmouthMarriott Hotel. Located near famous landmarks such as the Spinnaker Tower, the hotel offers a range of amenities including: Cast Iron Bar & Grill, our signature restaurant and fitness centre.

The Portsmouth Marriott Hotel provides exceptional, personal, and friendly service whilst catering to a variety of guests.

The Impact You'll Make

As Human Resources Manager, you'll champion Marriott's people-first culture and play a key role in shaping an engaged, inclusive and high‑performing workplace. Partnering closely with the General Manager and leadership team, you'll drive the hotel's people strategy, ensuring associates feel valued, supported and empowered to achieve their full potential.

You'll be a trusted advisor across all areas of HR, balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on operational support to deliver exceptional associate experiences and support business success.
