Village Hotel Sheffield is looking for an energetic Assistant Host Manager to lead the front-of-house as we open a brand-new hotel. You will join in January, train the Host Team, and ensure a warm, seamless check-in experience for every guest.

Working closely with the Host Manager, you will run pre-opening briefings, manage shifts, and drive guest satisfaction and ADR goals through attentive service and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or front‑of‑house leadership experience is ideal, but attitude, adaptability, and operational grit matter as much.

Assistant Host Manager: Brand New Opening (Village Hotel Sheffield)

There is nothing quite like the buzz of opening a brand new hotel. Everything is immaculate, fresh, and completely untouched. We are opening Village Hotel Sheffield, and we need an energetic, hands-on Assistant Host Manager to be the operational heartbeat of our front‑of‑house team from day zero.

Just to be crystal clear on timelines: we are moving fast. Interviews are happening week commencing 16th November. You will officially start with us in January, well before the doors open, giving you the time and space to set up your operation, train the team, and test our check‑in technology before the first guest walks through the door.

Your Remit: How You Will Run It

You are not inheriting someone else's tired systems or inherited problems. You are building this front desk culture from scratch. Working in close partnership with the Host Manager, you are the right hand that translates high‑level strategy into seamless shift delivery. You will step up as Duty Manager, own the lobby floor, and ensure every guest touchpoint, from mobile check‑in to checkout - delivers genuine human warmth and effortless service.

To make this opening a massive success, here is exactly how you will need to sequence your focus:

• First: The Pre‑Opening Setup & The Team. Starting in January, you will help onboard and train our brand‑new Host Team. You will get hands‑on with our tech, lead daily practice runs, instill brand check‑in standards, and build a tight‑knit, supportive front desk team ready for opening day.

• Second: The Commercial Grip & Daily Standards. You will safeguard the bottom line during every shift. You will monitor wage costs and rotas, balance daily takings and resolve discrepancies, securely authorise adjustments, and coach the desk to spot upselling opportunities that drive our Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Club Fill targets.

• Third: The Floor & The Atmosphere. When the doors open, you are the operational engine of the shift. You will run high‑energy pre‑shift briefings, step in as Duty Manager across the wider hotel when needed, read the room, and resolve guest queries on the spot with quick‑thinking empathy to drive our review scores straight into the local top 10 on TripAdvisor.
