Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Hospitality Assistant at Spinneyfield Care Centre. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for general Facilities Domestic & Catering duties, waste removal, communication with ward and hotel services staff, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring a clean, welcoming environment for staff, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities also include preparing, cooking, and serving patient meals.

Hours: 12 hours per week.
Shift pattern: Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday 16.00-19.00. Hours may vary.

Weekend shifts are paid at the NHS enhanced rate.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide high-quality hospitality services to wards, departments, clinics, and health centres, ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Perform cleaning tasks according to specifications using appropriate equipment.
  • Prepare, assemble, and cook food for patient meals.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.
  • Maintain floors, including mopping and displaying warning cones when wet.
  • Remove waste regularly, following proper procedures for labelling and disposal, including clinical waste.
  • Use chemicals safely and economically, only using Trust-supplied chemicals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Use machinery safely and maintain equipment.
  • Undertake deep, clinical, and infection cleans, including laundry and curtain management.
  • Assist with receipt and storage of deliveries, reporting faults.
  • Handle mail, parcels, and post deliveries.
  • Check oxygen/medical gas cylinders for stock and expiry.

Coordinate with catering staff and volunteers for timely service.

Understand and comply with COSHH regulations.

Clean kitchen and equipment as scheduled.

Prepare and assemble food using catering equipment, including knives, steam ovens, and brat pans.

Prepare sandwiches, salads, and desserts for patients.

Assist with ward trolley preparation and delivery.

Monitor and record food and equipment temperatures.

Assist with buffet and function preparations.

Complete necessary paperwork per department procedures.
