Job summary

Medical Update Online in Basingstoke is seeking a qualified registered Social Worker to join our Hospital Social Work Team. You will work with dedicated health and social care colleagues to deliver high‑quality social work services and support adults leaving hospital to achieve the best outcomes.

You will conduct comprehensive assessments, manage a complex caseload with supervision for junior staff, triage safeguarding referrals, and build positive professional relationships across teams.

Qualifications

• Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England (SWE).
• Newly Qualified Social Workers are not considered for this post.
• Strong understanding of applying a strengths-based approach.
• Understanding of social work issues, legal frameworks and statutory duties.
• Commitment to compassion, empathy and respect.

Join our Basingstoke Hospital Social Work Team as a qualified registered Social Worker. You'll work with dedicated health and social care colleagues to deliver excellent social work services, helping adults leaving hospital to achieve the best outcomes.

What you'll be doing:

• Conducting comprehensive assessments of individuals' needs and available support.
• Managing a complex caseload whilst providing supervision for Case Workers and Senior Case Workers and practice advice on complex cases.
• Triaging safeguarding referrals and making informed decisions.
• Building positive and professional relationships.

What we're looking for:

• Social Work qualification and registered with Social Work England (SWE).
• Due to the needs of the team, we're unable to consider Newly Qualified Social Workers for this post.
• A sound understanding of how to apply a strengths-based approach.
• Understanding of social work issues, legal frameworks and social services' statutory duties.
• Commitment to demonstrating our values and behaviours, showing compassion, empathy and respect.

• Excellent Practice Validation: Progress to a Senior Social Worker role through our Excellent Practice Validation programme. Our Senior Social Workers are paid a market supplement of £3,000 per annum.
