Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset is seeking an enthusiastic Optometrist to join the Ophthalmology department at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The role supports both full-time and part-time working patterns, with on-site duties and potential IP involvement.

The successful candidate will assess patients in core clinics, provide contact lens fittings/aftercare, and may participate in glaucoma/macula/IP clinics, with on-the-job training and supervision available.

Qualifications

• GOC Registration is required.
• Experience with contact lens fittings and aftercare.
• Experience in complex hospital contact lens work including scleral lenses.
• IP qualification and paediatric refraction experience desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical optometry services in hospital clinics including contact lens clinics.
• Assess new and existing patients and perform paediatric refraction where appropriate.
• Support IP qualifications and work within a multi-disciplinary MDT.
