Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Optometrist to join the Ophthalmology department at Royal Bournemouth Hospital on a full- or part-time basis. The role includes core clinics for new and existing patients, with a focus on contact lens services and therapeutic fittings.

On-the-job training will be provided. IP qualification is advantageous. Some IP clinics and Eye Emergency Department work may be required, with travel between sites as needed.

Qualifications

• BSc in Optometry and General Optical Council registration required.
• Experience in contact lens practice desirable.
• Independent prescribing qualification advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out core clinics including assessment of new and current patients in contact lens services with therapeutic fittings and aftercare.
• Participate in specialist clinics (e.g., Glaucoma, Macula) and Eye Emergency Department as needed.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team and receive on-the-job training and supervision.
