Job summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology based mainly at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. The role offers an opportunity to develop ophthalmology skills within a supportive Trust environment.

The successful candidate will contribute to outpatient clinics, emergency eye care, clinical audit and education, while upholding NHS standards and Trust values across three sites in Hampshire.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Experience in managing elective outpatient caseloads.
• Experience supervising junior doctors.
• Good written and verbal communication with patients, colleagues and all levels of staff.
• Teaching/presentation skills.
• Competent decision maker.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient Care: See new and follow-up patients in general ophthalmology clinics with a named consultant for support.
• Patient Standards: Strive to meet NHS Patients Charter and Trust values.
• Emergency Care: Contribute to emergency eye care during normal hours.
• Audit & Education: Participate in clinical audit and educational activities within the department and across the Trust.
