Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an Estates Technician (Mechanical) to maintain and optimise mechanical plant and building services across healthcare sites. You will diagnose faults, carry out routine maintenance, and support specialist equipment and drainage systems.

You will work with a team of engineers, ensuring HTM standards are met and contributing to a safe environment for staff and patients. The role requires being on-call and able to cover weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in a mechanical trade with a recognized qualification (City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Strong background in building maintenance and engineering with fault-finding skills in mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and manage test data (spreadsheets/databases).
• Willingness to travel across sites with a valid driving licence and work unsupervised.
• Current CP certification in mechanical systems, HTM standards, or MGPS is required.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical maintenance, fault diagnosis, and M&E installation work across HVAC, LPWH, steam sterilisation and water systems.
• Service and maintain decontamination equipment, pressure vessels, lifting equipment, and drainage systems.
• Perform CP/AP duties for critical mechanical disciplines adhering to HTM standards.
• Issue Permits to Work and Risk Assessments; supervise contractors and participate in plant replacement programs.
• Deputise for Estates Team Leaders and participate in on-call rota and after-hours coverage.
