Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is recruiting a Shift Maintenance Assistant to join the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. This full-time, permanent role offers 37.5 hours per week with a shift pattern of 06:00–14:00 or 14:00–22:00 and a competitive salary with a shift allowance.

You will support planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, plumbing and fabric systems to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Practical maintenance skills across mechanical, electrical, HVAC and fabric systems.
• Ability to identify and report defects and follow safety RAMS.
• Competent with IT systems and basic digital record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, plumbing and fabric systems.
• Carry out basic servicing, repairs and fault finding within your level of competence, reporting defects to your line manager.
• Undertake tasks including emergency lighting checks, AHU maintenance, TMV servicing, and cleaning/disinfection.
• Complete minor works on behalf of the NHS Foundation Trust as required.
• Use tools and equipment safely and accurately, following approved job plans and standards.
• Ensure maintenance records are completed and entered into logbooks or digital systems.
• Identify materials required for remedial works and maintenance activities.
• Maintain workshops and working areas in a clean, safe condition.
• Attend meetings, toolbox talks and training; support colleagues.
