Job summary
Cygnet Hospital Derby is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to undertake day-to-day maintenance tasks and planned remedial works to keep plant, services and vehicles in safe, working order. You’ll be part of a supportive team, recording call-outs and checks, performing decorating and basic joinery, maintaining equipment, and complying with safe working practices.
The role runs Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, within a hospital caring for people with mental health needs.
Qualifications
- Experience in a similar role or self-employed work in recent years.
- Ability to communicate at all levels and record detailed maintenance information.
- Skilled at DIY and general maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Undertake day-to-day maintenance and planned remedial works to keep plant, services and vehicles in working order, keeping records of call-outs and routine checks as directed.
- Carry out decorating, basic joinery, painting & general building work.
- Maintain equipment, services & vehicles.
- Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards.
- Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights.
