Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Derby is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform day-to-day upkeep of plant, services and vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient operation in a healthcare setting.

You will work Monday to Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm, undertaking decorating, basic joinery and general building tasks, maintaining equipment and recording checks while following safety procedures; an enhanced DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Experienced in a similar role or worked in a self-employed capacity recently.
• Able to communicate at all levels and record detailed maintenance information.
• Skilled at DIY and general maintenance.
• Preferably experienced in the electrical/construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Undertake day-to-day maintenance and planned remedial works to keep plant, services and vehicles in working order, keeping records of call-outs and routine checks as directed.
• Carry out a range of tasks including decorating, basic joinery, painting & general building work.
• Maintain equipment, services & vehicles.
• Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards.
• Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights.
