Job summary

The Catering Assistant role at Bradford Hospice, funded by NHS Jobs, supports the Head Chef in delivering daily catering services for patients, visitors and staff. You will help maintain high hygiene standards across the kitchen, assist with food preparation and simple cooking, and work 18.75 hours over three days per week.

This permanent role offers training, annual leave, pension schemes and opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and practice of all food hygiene regulations (as outlined in the Food Safety Manual).
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Awareness of health and safety issues in the workplace.
• Experience or knowledge of working in a catering department or kitchen.
• Ability to maintain a clean, tidy, safe, and hygienic environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily provision of all catering services at the Hospice.
• Maintain the level 5 food hygiene rating and ensure high‑quality food service.
• Support the smooth operation of the kitchen, perform general kitchen duties, food preparation and cook simple meals under supervision.
