Job summary

MorePeople is seeking a Horticulture Production Manager for a leading family-owned nursery in West Sussex, producing over 3 million pots annually across two sites.

You will join the senior leadership team, oversee production, growing, operations, stock control and despatch, and report to the Managing Director. You’ll lead managers and supervisors to ensure crops meet the highest standards and delivery timelines.

Qualifications

• Commercial nursery experience in growing, operations or production.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Technical growing knowledge and understanding of commercial crop production.
• Commercial awareness and budget management experience.
• Confidence using data, Excel and production systems to drive decision-making.
• Ability to balance people, production and performance.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead production and growing teams across two nursery sites.
• Manage operational managers, supervisors and support functions.
• Drive crop quality, production efficiency and nursery performance.
• Carry out crop walks and support technical growing decisions.
• Oversee stock control and despatch performance.
• Manage labour, budgets and resource planning.
• Work with department managers to improve communication and operational efficiency.
• Support capital investment projects, new systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation schemes, health & safety requirements and business standards.
• Use production software and data to support decision-making and performance improvement.
