Job summary

The Horticultural Skills Unit (HSU) at Northumberland County Council is seeking a caring Care Worker for 37 hours per week. You will support people with horticultural activities, help them access local opportunities and promote independence while maintaining accurate records.

We welcome applicants with horticultural interest; training will be provided. The role involves outdoor work in gardens and greenhouses and is based at Hepscott Park, Morpeth.

Qualifications

• Good standard of education with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Positive, flexible attitude and a genuine passion for supporting others.
• Able to work effectively in a team and build positive relationships.
• Willing to undertake training and uphold high standards of care.
• Passion for growing plants with basic horticultural knowledge (desirable).
• DIY/woodworking skills (desirable).
• Full driving licence (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with growing plants in greenhouses and gardens and with selling plants to customers.
• Help people access and enjoy opportunities within their local community.
• Promote independence and personal development, fostering positive interactions with the public.
• Act as a keyworker and maintain accurate, professional records.
