Job summary

Petersham Nurseries - Richmond is seeking a Horticulture Support Assistant to assist the Horticulture team with day-to-day gardening, plant care, watering and site presentation.

The role includes moving plants, seasonal planting, assisting with deliveries, events and installations, and helping keep gardens tidy and safe. A full driving license is essential; full training will be provided.

Job description

The Horticulture Support Assistant is a
hands-on role supporting the Horticulture team in the care, presentation and
day-to-day maintenance of the gardens, planting and outdoor spaces across
Petersham Nurseries.

The role is primarily focused on helping
to keep the site looking beautiful, healthy and well cared for throughout the
seasons. This includes supporting with general gardening, plant care, watering,
moving plants, tidying horticultural areas and assisting the wider team with
seasonal planting and site presentation.

Alongside this core responsibility, the
role will provide occasional practical support across the wider site,
particularly where horticulture overlaps with deliveries, events,
installations, maintenance and the movement of stock or equipment.

Key responsibilities include supporting
the Horticulture team with day-to-day gardening and plant care; watering,
feeding, pruning, deadheading and general upkeep of planted areas as directed;
assisting with seasonal planting, displays and horticultural projects; moving
plants, pots, compost, tools and horticultural materials safely around the
site; keeping garden areas, pathways and horticultural workspaces tidy, safe
and well presented; and supporting the preparation of green spaces for seasonal
changes, events and special installations.

The role will also assist with the receipt
and movement of plant, horticultural and site deliveries, provide occasional
support with event set-up and site movement, particularly where furniture,
plants or outdoor spaces are involved, and support the Maintenance team with
straightforward practical tasks where required. Safe working practices,
including manual handling and the correct use of tools and equipment, will be
essential.

Gardening or horticultural experience
would be preferable but is not essential as full training and development will
be available to ensure you progress within the team. The most important
qualities are a genuine interest in plants and outdoor spaces, a practical
attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn.

A full driving license is essential and
the ability to drive large vans.
