Job summary

QD Stores Ltd in Towcester is seeking a hands-on Horticultural Department Supervisor/Duty Manager to lead our garden centre team, oversee plant care, customer service, and day-to-day operations. This role requires practical knowledge of horticulture and strong leadership to drive quality and sales.

You will mentor staff, plan daily tasks, monitor plant health, ensure proper watering, feeding, pest and disease control, and coordinate maintenance.

Qualifications

• Leadership and supervision skills in horticulture or retail environments.
• Experience mentoring staff and delivering training.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of horticultural staff to ensure quality and success of garden centre operations.
• Oversee plant care including watering, fertilising, and pest/disease control for a wide variety of plants.
• Mentor staff, provide guidance and training, and ensure daily tasks and projects are executed effectively.
• Carry out Duty Manager tasks in the main store when required, including cashing-up and banking duties.
• Engage with customers to provide information and assistance and ensure a high level of service.

Horticultural Department Supervisor/ Duty Manager

As a Horticulture Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and success of our horticultural operations. You will be responsible for leading a team of horticultural staff, managing plant care, customer interactions and contributing to the overall success of the garden centre.

You will mentor a team of horticultural staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the successful execution of daily tasks and projects, as well as oversee the health and maintenance of a wide variety of plants, ensuring they are properly watered, fertilised, and free from pests and diseases.

You will also be required to carry out Duty Manger tasks in the main store as and when required which will include cashing-up and banking duties.
