Job Description

This role involves providing tailored advice to customers approaching the Homeless Prevention Service on various housing options, opportunities, training, employment, wellbeing, welfare benefits, and debt management. The successful candidate will offer specialist advice and casework services to a diverse range of residents, including:

• Single homeless individuals, including refugees
• Families and households facing homelessness or in insecure accommodation
• Young people and applicants with support needs such as substance misuse, mental and physical health issues, and domestic abuse

Key responsibilities include:

1. Carrying out assessments under Homelessness Legislation and providing suitable housing options
2. Collaborating with Housing Assessment and Allocation Services to prevent homelessness and promote effective housing solutions
3. Working with the Lettings Team to plan and deliver housing options that meet the needs of homeless households and others in housing need

The role requires working alongside staff, managers, and external agencies such as Probation, Mental Health Support Services, and Rough Sleeper Teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, administrative abilities, effective communication skills, and experience working with vulnerable households. The role demands managing a caseload and delivering a professional, sensitive service.
