Job summary

South London local authority is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer on a 3-6 month contract to manage a varied homelessness caseload and help residents secure sustainable housing outcomes.

The role involves assessing applications, conducting Housing Needs Assessments, and delivering Prevention and Relief duties, including detailed enquiries and legally compliant decisions. Collaboration with landlords and partner agencies is essential to outcomes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2019 (2017) and related duties.
• Experience managing Prevention and Relief duties from initial approach to closure.
• Availability to attend the office 3 days per week.
• Free staff parking available on site.

• Liaising with landlords, support services and partner agencies to secure positive outcomes for applicants.
• Assessing temporary accommodation duties and exploring all available housing options.

What we're looking for:

• Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Experience managing Prevention and Relief duties from initial approach through to case closure.
• Availability to attend the office 3 days per week.
