Chelmsford City Council’s Strategic Housing Service is recruiting two Homeless Officers to join our busy Homeless Team, working with people to prevent homelessness and make decisions as to the Council’s duties under the homelessness legislation.

This is a challenging role but one that is also very rewarding, with the knowledge that you are working with others to make a real difference to help those in difficult situations.

The successful applicants will have the necessary skills to apply a customer-focused, proactive problem-solving approach in order to successfully work with people experiencing homelessness and those with complex needs. Effective decision-making skills, case management experience and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines are essential criteria of the role.

The base for working is the Council’s Civic Centre offices, with the option to work from home.

There are two positions available, one permanent and one an 18-month fixed term / internal secondment position - both working 37 hours per week.
