Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Homeless Accommodation and Support Officer in Scarborough to support clients with complex needs in a Housing First project. The role focuses on holistic, person-centred assistance to help maintain tenancies and improve outcomes.

You will join the REACH team, collaborating with mental health, housing and IDA colleagues, and travel to other locations across North Yorkshire as required.

Homeless Accommodation and Support Officer

Salary: £32,578 to £35,570 per annum

Grade: H

Contract: Fixed Term ( 2 years)

Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week

As a Homeless Accommodation and Support Officer you will be working with clients in the locality tomaintain their homes within a Housing First project. This client group willhave a history of recurrent homelessness and need support to build on theirskills to manage in their tenancy. You will carry a caseload of up to 18 peoplewith multiple needs (some of which will be entrenched rough sleepers). You willprovide a holistic and coordinated support for all customers, from firstcontact when they sign up for their accommodation, through to help themmaintain their accommodation.

You will be part of theCouncil’s REACH team working alongside mental health, housing and IDAscolleagues. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an innovativemulti-agency team making a real difference to the lives of people facing someof the most significant challenges in our communities. You will join asupportive team that values collaboration, creativity, and the Housing Firstprinciples of choice, flexibility, and long-term support.

The ideal candidates will havethe ability to work using a supportive person-centred approach, withindividuals who have been rough sleeping and the trauma associated with that.You will also have experience of working with people with multiple needs, knowledgeof the current welfare system, private rented sector and understand thebarriers to engagement.

Additionally, you will be able to work flexibly andcreatively according to the needs and patterns of the clients. You need to beavailable to support the wider rough sleeper team to meet the needs of theclient group. This may include working on tenancy readiness skills with smallgroups or offering one to one coaching for other clients open to the team.
