Job summary

St Leonard's Primary School is seeking a dedicated Home School Link Worker on a 1-year fixed-term contract with a potential for permanency. The role focuses on strengthening home–school partnerships, improving attendance and ensuring timely support for families within our community.

You will work closely with families, school staff and external agencies to remove barriers to children’s attendance, wellbeing and learning, and contribute to safeguarding and welfare processes while upholding our

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, families, schools or community organisations.
• Ability to build positive relationships quickly and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
• Be aware of attendance, safeguarding and early help processes, or be willing to develop this knowledge quickly.
• Be passionate about improving outcomes for children.
• Work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with children, parents and carers.
• Promote school values in all interactions.
• Work with families to improve attendance and punctuality.
• Monitor attendance concerns and support families to remove barriers.
• Provide early help and support for low-level family concerns.
• Signpost families to services and agencies and help them access support.
• Carry out home visits where appropriate.
• Collaborate with safeguarding leads and external professionals.
• Support identified children individually or in small groups to remove barriers to learning and attendance.
• Organise family engagement activities, workshops and events.
• Develop partnerships with community organisations and local services.
• strengthen the school's profile within the local community.
• Maintain records and contribute to safeguarding, attendance and welfare processes.
