Job summary

Serencroft Care Homes is seeking an experienced Home Manager for Gable Court in Romford. You will lead day-to-day operations, ensure safe, compassionate, person-centered care, and maintain strong CQC performance while managing budget and resources.

You will oversee care planning, safeguard residents, and collaborate with families, commissioners and the Serencroft leadership team to maintain high standards and staff engagement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Registered Manager within a CQC-regulated care or nursing home — essential.
• NVQ/QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or working towards).
• Track record of leading a care home to strong CQC outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding and health and social care law.
• Excellent leadership, communication and people-management skills.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Act as the home's CQC Registered Manager, ensuring regulatory compliance and notifications.
• Lead, coach and develop the staff team including recruitment, supervision and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with CQC standards and health and social care legislation.
• Drive continuous improvement in care quality and safety, aiming for strong CQC ratings.
• Manage the home's budget, occupancy and resources effectively.
• Oversee care planning, risk assessment and safeguarding practices.
• Build strong relationships with residents, families and commissioners.
• Lead internal audits, inspections and quality assurance processes.
• Champion Serencroft's values and B Corp commitments daily.
• Report performance and quality to senior leadership.

Salary: £65,000 to £70,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: 40 hours per week

About Us

Serencroft Care Homes is an independent care provider operating five residential and nursing homes across England, including Gable Court in Romford. We are CQC-regulated and B Corp certified, and we work in partnership with NHS commissioners and local universities to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. We are looking for an experienced, values-led Home Manager to lead Gable Court and build on its position as a safe, high-quality home for residents and a great place to work for staff.

The Role

As Home Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the day-to-day leadership, operational performance and quality of care at Gable Court, acting as the home's CQC Registered Manager. You'll lead a multidisciplinary team, manage the home's budget and resources, and be the driving force behind a culture of safe, compassionate, person-centred care — working closely with residents, families, commissioners and the wider Serencroft leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the home's CQC Registered Manager, holding responsibility for regulatory compliance and statutory notifications
• Lead, motivate and develop the home's staff team, including recruitment, supervision, appraisal and performance management
• Ensure compliance with CQC fundamental standards and all relevant health and social care legislation
• Drive continuous improvement in care quality and safety, working towards and maintaining strong CQC ratings
• Manage the home's budget, occupancy and resources effectively
• Oversee care planning, risk assessment and safeguarding practices across the home
• Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, NHS commissioners, local authorities and other stakeholders
• Lead on internal audits, external inspections and quality assurance processes
• Champion Serencroft's values and B Corp commitments in the day-to-day running of the home
• Report regularly to the senior leadership team on performance, quality and compliance
